Making Sense of Your Lotto Results

Draw Schedule & When Results Are Published

Lotto is drawn on Wednesday at 8:20 PM and Saturday at 8:00 PM, NZ time, with ticket sales closing at 7:30 PM on both nights. We publish the winning numbers on this page within minutes of the broadcast being verified.

Checking Your Ticket

Compare your numbers against the draw above, or open the numbers checker on the latest draw's page to see instantly whether you've won. For how the draw itself works and the full odds, see our Lotto guide. Looking for an older ticket? Browse the full Lotto results archive.

Reading the Prize Breakdown

Each division has a prize pool that gets split between every winning line, so the amount per winner depends on how many people got there. First Division carries a guaranteed $1 million pool - with three winners, that's $333,333 each.

Two divisions pay in tickets rather than cash. Three main numbers wins four bonus Lotto lines for the next draw, and one Strike number in the right position wins a bonus Strike line.

Ticket Validity & Claiming a Prize

Prizes must be claimed within 12 months of the draw date, after which they're forfeited and the money goes into Lotto NZ's prize reserve fund. Hold on to your ticket until you've checked it against the official result.

What Happens When Nobody Wins

The three games handle it differently. Lotto's First Division doesn't roll over - it stays at its guaranteed $1 million, and an unwon share goes into the prize reserve fund. Powerball does roll over, growing draw by draw up to a $50 million ceiling, after which the next draw is Must Be Won and the money drops to the division below. Strike is capped by count instead: it can roll over ten times, and the tenth draw is Must Be Won. See our Lotto statistics for how often each of those has happened.

Lotto Results FAQ

Twice a week - Wednesday at 8:20 PM and Saturday at 8:00 PM, NZ time. Ticket sales close at 7:30 PM on both nights.
The 15 most recent draws are on this page. For anything older, use the archive link below the list - it goes back through every draw we hold.
Three of the six main numbers is enough to win something. That's Division 7, and it pays four bonus Lotto lines for the next draw rather than cash. Matching all six main numbers takes First Division.
That's the Powerball prize, not the Lotto one. Three main numbers plus the Powerball wins Powerball Division 7, a fixed $15 - and because the same line also wins Lotto Division 7, you collect four bonus Lotto lines on top.
Yes. Every draw summary shows the six main Lotto numbers and the bonus ball, plus the Powerball number and the four Strike numbers in the order they were drawn.
12 months from the draw date. After that the prize is forfeited and the money goes into Lotto NZ's prize reserve fund, so it's worth checking older tickets sooner rather than later.
